Troubleshooting
==============

If "Backstage" fails to launch--

PC:
a. Make sure Virtual Memory is enabled and your swap file size is at least 4MB for Windows 3.1. For Windows 95, you should choose to let Windows manage your virtual memory setting.
b. Be sure to turn off all unnecessary TSRs before running "Backstag.exe", including non-Windows Desktop Manager programs.
c. Make sure CD-ROM drive and sound card are installed in your system with the appropriate driver software.
d. Disconnect from network, if you are on one.

Video, Animation and Sound
1. If you experience General Protection faults or strange looking images, be sure you have the latest driver for your video card.
2. This program was made to be viewed in thousands of colors, but if you have RAM problems change the monitor to 256 colors. Set the display to 640 x 480.
3. Quicktime 2.1.2 has been installed in your computer. Play sample movie to make sure it was installed properly. If movie and sound does not play properly, reinstall Quicktime from the CD. The file is called: QTINSTAL.EXE
4. Other Help files are located on the CD, if you need them.

Mac:
a. Quit all open applications and close all open windows (except the Backstage Folder).
b. Turn off nonessential Extensions and Control Panels using the Extensions Manager Control Panel (restart your Mac afterwards).

If the above steps fail to correct "Backstage" launching problems, upgrade your RAM to 20 MB or greater. You can do this by increasing Virtual Memory. Open the Memory Control Panel in Control Panels (located in your System Folder) and adjust Virtual Memory. Always restart your computer after changing a setting in the System Folder, so the change will take affect.
